Stop management is certainly the most difficult aspect of trading. I know I do a terrible job of it. Set stop, cancel stop, reset stop, be thankful for a minor retrace to get out. It probably works out for me in the sense that the net losses are probably about the same. But I think the bigger issue is that by (mis)managing stops you lose focus on the market and often deprive yourself of the opportunity of entering a better trade later.

I know that in my trading one of my problems is that when I enter a trade which goes against me 3 or 4 ticks, I get nervous but am willing to let it work out. If I'm still open after say 15 minutes but it's near my entry still, I get very nervous. Then if it starts to go my way and I'm in profit 3 or 4 ticks, I have a tendency to want to close it ASAP because I feel like the market has given me an opportunity to get out after being in the red for so long. But it's usually at that moment that if the trade still looks good, that I should give it even more leeway to move my way, instead of being so quick to want to get out alive.

Anyway, hope you don't flame me for the after the fact coulda woulda shoulda but I thought maybe you all can get something out of it as I have.

Many of us do hindsight analysis and complain about missed trades. :)

It's the selective posting of only-winning-after-the-fact trades that gets on my nerves. :mad:

since you are using mp,try to trade from nip to ledge,or mark to mark,if you got long at a nip,as long as we haven't dropped below it ,stay in the trade awaiting the move to the next marker..not saying this is easy ...but if you broke that nip and got out all your losers would be small or b.e...as a trader it doesn't get any better than that(learn to love these losses)...and your winners are runners

The profile on the left in my most recent post is ETH, only I drew it to stop right before it moved up from 20.50 ... normally my 1m chart is RTH profile, my 5m is ETH.

Either way I don't know how to change it in TOS, you may have to use an RTH chart if you want an RTH profile.

Ammo, in ToS you cannot have both ETH and RTH profiles on the same chart, you would need to have two side-by-side charts.

However, keep in mind that due to the low overnight volume the difference will tend to be minuscule after a couple of hours, particularly if, as today, both HOD and LOD are achieved in RTH.

This would be yesterday's profiles and you can see the difference is small.

(To show ETH/RTH -> right click -> Style -> Settings -> Futures -> show/not show extended session).

Nice trade, btw!

Greek bondholders accepting haircut market yawns.

That is not true. Banks did not accept the haircut. The level has been set. Now it is up to the banks to voluntarily accept it.
