I'm in your camp, I don't like to average down but I also understand there are many ways to skin this cat so different methodologies must be respected for the benefit of an open mind.

I think there are many ways for the cat to skin you. But I agree with your philosophy: Trade and let average.

It's like that other one: Live and let die. But crueler. I like it.

They will lose all of their account, probably more than once, before I convince just one of them to change their ways.:p

Quote from JSHINV:

I think that the major point of contention is averaging trades that are currently losing.

Dollar cost averaging - average over a period of of equal time intervals an equal amount always bullish and long. I don't think brokers try to sell that game now - too many people lost money. It doesn't work. But, it was a big selling point (brokers) at one time.

What happened to candles and his 1370 ish long position ?. Kind of miss him and all the other averagers buy the dipsters of the beginning of the year.

This is an order that could be triggered overnight.

Sell stop 1294
Stop (cover) 1299
Market Buy order to cover at 6:23 AM AZ Time

1st triggers OCO.

Will look at it periodically in the next 5 hours and if doesn't feel right I'll cancel or revise. I am usually not sitting at my screens at 6:23 AM AZ, usually about 7AM - 730 AM AZ time.

Are you expecting a big drop in the o/n session?

(My estimates were :1300 - 1318. so far double low at 1298)

Only that it is POSSIBLE it will. It is possible the spx will fall off the cliff in my OPINION. The reason of course is the debt limit crisis. As I have said (opinion only), if they don't reach a deal by market close on Friday, I would tend to think the SPX will be pounded sometime during the last two trading days of this week.
