You're thinking too much.

When professional money needs to get out of a long or initiate a short position, they want the best price possible. They could care less about bear flags and pennants.
 
startraitor: you've been pretty spot on with your calls the last weeks.
do you still think we go higher here today and/or next week?
or do you think the trend has turned?
 
Are people more likely to take the long weekend short or long? Im short from 1212 but don't want this to gap in my face come Tuesday. I dont think we see any bullish news but could see something come out of Europe thats deemed negative, seems these long weekends are always good for a surprise.

i'll state my opinion fwiw concerning the weekly swings.
i've seen that big money started buying on 22/08 in the afternoon, and they didn't really stop untill yesterday.

I agree that they are not scalping 20 lots in and out. My point is that they initiate/add to/scale out of positions based on the fundamentals of the economy, as well as where price is trading.. not because of patterns. My job as a small trader is to identify the price levels that they will react to and ride their coat tails.

I'm thinking I am far enough in the money to give it a shot letting it ride, just needed someone to tell me I wasn't crazy for doing so, haa.
