hi guys, for those of you with active stop loss (market) orders in ***IB**** before the crash, and got hit during the crash.

Do you mind sharing what the stop loss was at, and where it actually got filled. I am very interested to see how well IB filled those orders, i believe they manage the orders themselves and not queued on the exchange?

thanks

I don't know if this helps, but right when it was cracking 1100 I had just transmitted buy limit in IB SOMEWHERE in the ball park of 1050-1080, thinking that I'd bump it up when it reversed.

Well before you know it, TWS basically broke for everyone, and by some stroke of luck I got filled at 1057. Whether my buy limit was actually there I'll never know....

Anyways don't be jealous - I got my butt handed to me earlier.

Yes ET did stop working. I actually believe you kept averaging through that crap and made money on the trade, because when price sliced right through the 1124.75 low on the second visit and broke down badly I figured whatever plan you may have had went out the window and you were the deer in the headlights.

You've been lucky to escape these trades like the one you had in CL recently. Seriously, what if CL dropped to $75 on that trade and never rebounded more than 1.00? What if ES kept dropping today and locked trading and eventually resumes and settles 1050 or worse?

Is it worth risking your entire year's "1 pt profit" on a single trade because you believe averaging down always works?

Doesn't it make more sense to just stop out and retry???

wave,

I have my 1080 booked.

I see 1150 in play but so is 900.

Any input?

Well, my longs were stopped out, I was holding them back to 1208. We got the 100 pt drop from above 1200. Mama Bear was Hungry, that's for sure.
I am going to have a look at the charts tonite and update in the morning.

Nice job LC.

1987 the stock mkt hit -22%, today looks like at worst it was -9% plus change. 1987 was blood in the streets, this was biggie but not as bloody.

Today was another example where the COMPUTERS can not handle real shit hitting the fan. Humans as specialists at NYSE or pit traders handle extreme situations, computers get their bits all crossed up.

FWIW,.......the guy that keeps calling, a price and a point here, a point there, is blowing smoke up his ass. Today the trend was down, PERIOD. I was not in on the fun, i sat down and saw it happening and said................"DO not touch this" the risk to reward was not worth it, there are times to trade and times not to.

PS, the exchanges will NOT ADMIT their systems could NOT handle the situation. Computers can not handle this stuff.. Bring back the guys/gals that can handle a panic..........regardless of how or why it was caused. for an exchange to admit their systems suck would open them up to all kinds of bad news.

Again, this was childs play compared to 1987. :)
just wait bh,this is only the beginning
