No. If the system said to take some off at 1099, then it would have been better to take all off at 1099. The problem is that it is easy to pick a point (1099) and say that one should have scaled out there, but most likely, the scaler was pulling parts of the trade at 1078, 1080 etc. This is a discussion for another thread. Suffice it to say, that I trade all in/all out.:)

That's the problem with chasing in a instrument that exhibits mean reversion. You will never buy low or sell high if you are chasing price.

Is that the best excuse you can come up, when scaling out has proven to be more profitable on your last 4 trades had you used it ?

:)

It wasn't really the scaling in/out vs. all in/out his problem but the not locking in profits while ahead in his last few trades...

Just curious as to why you care what B1S1 does? He is not recklessly averaging down as he has explained his money management rules previously and also that he makes the majority of his income from collecting premium on options.

There are a million ways to make money in the market, we just have to find what works for us personally.

This is what wave calls the 800 pound gorilla,
notice how the market went right back up. I was looking for a touch of pivot at 109.45.
When you see 1,000,000 plus shares in a minute take notice. Good trading.

Yeah, thanks. i was long spy looking for 109.45 too. when my order didnt get hit when that was touched, i raised stop and got lucky to be out at 109.32 instead of being sub 109.
i got my eye on that gap below, but i suppose 110 isnt out of the question today

Although not addressed to me, let me explain:

B1S2 calls this thread an evolution, we are trying to help him to EVOLVE.

That's why. :)

Do you expect a selloff? The current uptrend looks rather strong.

Exactly my point. Wall Street wants you let forget that financials will come under massive pressure. High yield bonds spreads and mortgage bond spreads are not a free lunch anymore. Where should they generate profits from like in the last 3 quarters ?
