Quote from Lawrence Chan:

My take is that once stop orders are blocked from this centralized feed, the playing field will get back to normal quickly.

I have been observing this institutional behavior since the 2000 stock market crash. it has probably been going on long before that.

I seriously doubt they will ever stop. They don't know how to play poker without seeing your cards!

I NEVER submit limit orders or stop losses that are not going to execute immediatly.

My software tracks the prices until I am ready to execute.

I have found that prices actually go where I want/expect them to (most of the time), when I don't broadcast my intentions.

Cheers!

Ed

You reminded me in the old days when we have to call orders to the pit.

And one day back then, all of a sudden my limit orders just did not get fill unless I chase.

That afternoon, I heard my broker exploded at some guy, "what the f*** you are doing ..."

What happened was that several locals were trying to lean on my trades =)

So, I have ninja trader, obviously, if I buy on market then they can't see that order until its filled, but for my stop do they see it or not?

I have experimented in the past by placing small stop loss orders at the broker and they get hit regularly. Not so, when they are hidden.

I use CoolTrade, and NO orders are floated ahead of time.

Quote from Decel:

Great call LC, totally missed the move (I expected another run to the highs...)

Put VWAP on your 1-min chart and study the past 2 years of data on how it emerges into one of the key price level indicator.

You will figure out what I see in the chart too.
