It is related to the real-time depth changes and how the trades are done on a tick by tick basis at a particular price level.

e.g. In the face of a mini melt up, who would stick size offer in the middle of nowhere (as it seems) and as price keep trying to go higher, the depth keep "thicken". That would eventual consume all demand at the moment and induces a (mini) sell off, like what just happened.
