And another thing:

Gold has come off 40 dollars now from the highs.. profit taking going on there too. Yen has already decoupled a few days ago... Small signs we may have a temp low in place for SPX...

I am not knocking Elliott Wave at all. It has merits I'm sure but Prechter has been bearish for the last 20 years or so. I guess this last trade was his "all-in" bet. Good to see it paid off for him.

Quote from Jahajee:

DOES ANYONE KNOW ANYONE WHO TOOK THAT TRADE?
ANY EVIDENCE THAT PRECHTER RECOMMENDED THIS TRADE?

Time to 'Cover' One of the

Biggest Trades of All Time

At the end of trading on Monday, Feb. 23, 2009, Robert Prechter closed the most successful trading recommendation of his 30-year career. His advice to "cover" the position came near the end of the trading day, when subscribers received the February 2009 issue of his Elliott Wave Theorist. This closed a “fully leveraged short position” he recommended to Theorist subscribers on July 17, 2007, when the S&P was at 1550. At the time of publication on Monday, Feb. 23, the S&P was trading below 750.

One measure of the value of this trade is the S&P mini futures contract, where each point is worth $50. A gain of 800 points on one contract equals $40,000; 10 contracts would be $400,000; 100 contracts $4 million. And so on.

A gain of 800 points in 19 months is a historical trade that, to our knowledge, has never happened before and might never happen again.

The problem is that you may got blown out first before you have chances to take the trade if you follow all his recommendations. I had subscribed their service for six months to learn the Elliot wave stuff before they had the right call of the market top. Don't remember how many times he had called the top.

After that experience, I've learnt not to force market reality into any theory. Listen to the market and let the market tell you where it wants to go is the right way to trade.

BTW, the top he called was 1550 in the summer of 2007. The actual top of S&P came several months later.

TO MUCH INFO

R10 IS YOUR FRIEND

I recently opened an account with a futures broker. Last night when I was logged in for night session on ES, about 12 trades went off in my account; some where short/cover, others were long/sell; there was a minimal profit that was generated from the trades, yet I never placed them; I have order verifcation on also.

Some of the trades where +40 points (795) out of the market.

My concern is that the trades where posted to my account; I have no idea how that could have happened; I dont have any auto trades programs.

I called broker this morning and they said that they will look into the matter and contact the clearing firm; they said that maybe it had to do with someone logged into their demo platform which resulted in trades being placed in my account.

Has this ever happened to anyone else?

This is not the forum for this - post this in the Retail Brokers section and you need to specify who your broker is if you want any real responses

Yup, got taken out at 46. I was wise to listen to your advice and likewise moved my stop down. I'm itching to reenter short at 63. Get the hint bro? :)
