my point here was not "coulda woulda" ... just an observation that there seem to be a lot more shorts than longs on this board, consistently, which is, under the circumstances, puzzling.

having said that, i went 100% short a few moments before the close ... for the first time this year.

wish me luck

may i ask why you did such a thing for the very first time, in the face of that closing bullshit?

I'm trying to figure out if you're actually being serious or just ragging on me.

I attached a sim blotter from yesterday when I sim traded CL pre news to see what would happen.

Also is my ES blotter from today.

There's a difference, like the sim account says "Simulated Trading" and the live account says "Yes you can really pay your bills with this."

I can't let this post pass without asking for the reasoning behind letting your last trade get away from you and holding on for hours... :D

closing bullshit from me? or the markets?

if you mean the markets ...

some breadth stuff showed a huge, yawning bearish divergence into the close ... like nothing I've seen since January (when I didn't go short because ... well, I had my head up my ass) ... what was odd was that this SELL condition showed only on bigger timeframes (15 minutes, 30 minutes), while the faster stuff (one minute, three minutes) suggested nothing but further upside.

my judgement call was based on the fact that the bigger picture short condition seemed exceptionally stark ... and that the crazed bullishness of the lower time frames fit, from the point of view of tactical mindfuck, with the idea of a staged drive into the close ... and into the very price zone we saw just prior to last Friday's waterfall.

in short, my conclusion was that the gas wasn't there to trigger initiative buying past the 1206ish area. so i closed all longs and went short.

no doubt, i'm exquisitely wrong about everything.

I'm holding that last trade until it either stops me out or hits my target of 1150.00 :p

Edited for accuracy.

h&s on es

target 96

95-96 then sets up a larger IHS

I don't see the H&S, but the IHS is painfully obvious. Then again, I haven't seen an IHS not play out in this market since we started this run-up.

Full disclosure: I was on the wrong side of the last big IHS because I didn't pay close attn to my charts
