Quote from ASusilovic:

Old rule applies :

IF ES in trouble, sell USD buy ES High Frequency, short squeeze. This rule applies as long as valid.

Q.E.D.

Does this imply that an HFT-driven short squeeze is likely to take place if the short-term trend remains down?

Not trend ... just that too many small orders trying to sell.

Quote from ammo:

jss, how are your indicators pointing on the monthly and weekly

Weekly I see more upside
Monthly I still view as bearish, people in the know expect at least a W type bottom, unlikely that V will stand, check out this monthly INDU chart

Looking where are indicators (well oversold, if we will go back to 12we will be very oversold, it can stay there just short time) short squezze can be easily arranged by any MM subject.

My (wild) guess:
1. We will end somewhere where are now.
2. If we fall down and make the double bottom it will hold and squeezed back.
3. During next few days we will go somewhere between 40-50
4. From there we will fall approximately to 1000 where is 200 EMA.
5 we will bounce from it what will be interpreted like bull flag and widely popularized
6. How high will us lift the bull flag I do not know but if we will not make clear and to everybody visible new high than I think we will "investigate" the gap at 897 quite quickly

BTW I believe Hang Seng Index is ready to start down move, it is beating all other indexes to continuation of bear phase ImPO. Perfect way to mark 60 years of communism in China with fireworks come next week :)
