i'm sure we've all seen posts of the similarities with 08 and 1929,the 1929 things i've read showed a ton of volatile days like this,a couple of scenarios , 1. there is still a lot of liquidation going on,or 2. that their are a lot fewer supersize players out there, and they can move it farther with less resistancve than before from there counter parts
Or 3: Too many friggin' ET posters are turning bearish. Even those who were once diehard bulls are expressing outright pessimism now.

Hi guys

A question please.

I often hear about pivot points being used for ES trading, but have so far not used them myself.

Are there different definitions of pivot points?

Do some people calculate them from previous days open/close, and some people just name historic highs and lows pivot points?

Would also be interested to know which pivot points the floor traders use, and where I can find them or how I can calculate them myself.

thanks for any input!

Andy

Calculate them from regular trading hours - 9:30 to 4:15

"some people just name historic highs and lows pivot points?"

An Es pivot can also be where the price turned before, which may define areas of support and resistance.

Best to ask your questions in the price action journal.

Looking for 900+ tomorrow, 78+ overnight, long 60.50, stop 38.50 target 901.
Just like that? :)

Seriously, what's your rationale that the market will gap up overnight? I would think that now the rumor and the hype of G20 is over, you should get ready to sell the news.

bo had a 60 min gig to grease the game. 878 is target overnight and 960 this week.

Hard to say if this is an IHS (shoulders at ~56) that will power ES higher during the overnight or if the trend will continue down. I'm going with the latter.

Short ES 859.75, Stop 861.75... target 853 minimum
