financials are up over 10%

True story: In an IRA I had an order to buy the XLF in size (for me, at least), via market order, when the VIX hit 31. I set it a week or so ago and forgot about it.

Your post jogged my memory. Apparently on IB's charts, at least, the VIX opened up near 40 (must have been a glitch ), so I ended up long at 17.79.

I had not even seen the execution until after I read your post. Many thanks for the unintentional heads up.

good job

in all seriousness, though, what the heck is going on anyway?

Are you refering to why are we so green today? This is what I was looking at when going Long (another thread)

1) Market has been declining for ages without substantial retracement;
2) Histogram's formation suggested that bounce is near;
3) Wedges are one of the simplest ways to see slow down in a trend;

I don't look for any fundamental reasons, so no comment there. Vertigo again WTG on this morning's post, that's something I totally suck at.

(chart not EOD)

AD Volume, it's your friend, massive today, no afternoon selloff.

What do afternoon selloffs mean? (Right)

And when we don't get them? (Right!)

I will not be posting on the topic of PPT, manipulation or engineering anymore. Suffice it to say that I know that they do not exist in any shape, matter or form. What do exist, in abundance, are bad entries, exits and very very poor stop placements (and conspiracy theorists). Thanks everyone--now let's get back to the realities of trading. :)

and so on, you can argue that there is no literal PPT, but the working group is fact and a branch of US govt. created by Reagan.
