This was actually a quote from Adam Trader book. The idea is that we tend to overcomplicate trading. I commented on your statement as I agree. Buy1 started this off by saying that keeping a tight stop is a good idea ("Enter anywhere using a small stop and let the winners run and you will do better").
The problem with any of these truisms is you have to codify it for yourself. Keep losses small may be 10% to me on a 100,000 account, etc. For someone else losing 10,000 in a day is not an option. Here comes 140.40 on the spy. Good trading.

kinggyppo,

Precisely the point that I made ... the difference being, I used less words.

1/2 of this position taken off the table +4pts.

Stop moved to breakeven + 2 ticks ... this way, no matter how it works out, I win. :)
Out the remaining 1/2 at 1407 ... (don't make me tell you what the bottom was) :)

Short NQ 2008.25 and bought june 45 qqqq puts @ .29.

Haven't traded NQs in a while, but looks like 2011-2015 has lots of resistance...

Quote from fearless9:

Well, here is a thought for you ...not a rule but a thought to mull over.

From each selected entry point there are three likely outcomes.

... win
... go nowhere for a while.
... loss

If you do your homework correctly with ES you can ensure that your entry point falls into the first two categories 90%+ of the time.

Hello all ... it seems to me that this thought to mull over makes a very good rule, or at least a very good target to aim for.

One question if I may - how long is 'a while', the next minute, "X" seconds, or 'Y" amount of volume ...? Sorry if this a bit like 'how long is a pice of string'.

Funny, no one poste any entries on this yesterday. You can get instant credibility, all it needs is for someone to post entries, stops and exits in here realtime. I suggested this 2 weeks ago and got flamed for it. If it works, great. If not, move on.

We already gave you your request on may 5 th when rule of 10 nailed the exact high

Was it close to this worthless theory ?

Quote from volente_00:

1396.5

50 %

bounce anyone ?

No way that rule of 10 signal at 1406.5 could have turned into nice short. Surely no way that 5 signals from a worthless theory could produce so great of profit opportunity in just one trading day.

Quote from Buy1Sell2:

What I have been doing and I would hope everyone else will follow as well, is posting the actual real time entry and an actual real time stop at time of entry. --I no longer post an entry without a stop as I used to. I then post the trailing stop in real time. I don't feel that a target needs to be posted in advance unless of course you have one in mind. Rather, a posting in real time of the exit will suffice. I realize that there will still be some fake posting as there always has been, but I believe this is a much better journal system.

Posting a trade so others can copy teaches nothing. Teaching others what your method is at least gives them a chance to look into your mind and understand the basis for your methodology. I've already proven that you can give someone your exact trading methodology and it is possible that they can't replicate the results while others given the exact same thing are having success.

Quote from Buy1Sell2:

Actually, there is a perfect rule. Never risk more than 2 percent of TLNW on any one trade/idea. That works on any day even if it doesn't produce a profit that day!

Why is 2% the magical number? I rarely use more than 1.5% of my TLNW, but I know others who use 3-5%.

With all due respect, but other than telling us what this rule have done after the fact, how come you don't post precise entry and exit with stops like everyone else to keep this journal honest? I mean it only makes your rule more credible, no? Or do we just assume it.
