saliva,
thanks for the meticulous description of your quantatative view of price action in the markets.
your answer about the water makes your methode de market perfectly obvious.

don't worry, your secret's safe with you.

I also use water with repsect to my market position ebb and flow...

I take a position

I hold the position until it goes so far against me that I wet my pants, then I recognize the flow, get out of the losing position and watch prices reverse hard (flat from the sidelines).
:D

Quote from MandelbrotSet:

what is that exactly?

after trying to buy the last 11 dips and suffering catastrophic losses, you finnally catch the 12th one for a 2 pt profit?

you probably know the rule of 10, basically blackguard's Rule of 12 is a variation of it.I invented blackguard's Rule of 12 and I can show you when and where I invented it.

it worked twice today for 5+ points each time.I dont know where you get 2 points.it worked around noon, then again around 230PM.

doing some backtesting the past few days, I found it averages 6-7 points profit per trade.perfect example was last thursday.last friday there were no signals.

Im conducting more backtesting on this Rule, and I may not mention it anymore,I dont want it to be used by too many people.

edit:I meant last weds, not thursday

I don't mean to interupt, but it is a bit slow now so I'll ask a question that has been of interest recently. If you had to pick a time of day (to make 2 points on ES - long or short) to maximize your success ratio while minimizing your chances of a big loss, when would it be? I would think 9:30 - 10:00 am would be the worst time.

Well my performance is any indication, either within 45 mins of open or last 1:15 minutes of RTH. Anytime between there, it seems like I am donating.

Wow, I didn't know you were so poetic! :D

Nevertheless, I don't understand your point about me being coy by evading your question. What I meant by the "ebb and flow", as you correctly pointed out, is the strength of a given trend. Don't you trade the same way? Would you not enter when the strength is picking up and fade when the strength is weakening? As fas as the specifics are concerned, I use only the support/resistance, trendline and SMA(50) within the context of risk/reward metrics.

As far as wetting my own pants, I believe patience pays off if your analysis happens to be correct. For instance, when the trend is about to reverse after a few days of rally, it's been my experience that the payload is much larger if you just stick with the whole trend rather than jumping in and out hoping for a bigger gain trying to catch the minor tops and bottoms. While you might catch a few, in reality you'll most likely miss out on most of the move.

If you would like more details, which I think you do, feel free to PM me.

on the first down day, the smart money is selling

on the second down day the semi smart money is selling more

on the third day of the move, the dumb money is puking their long positions and shorting late to the party as the smart money covers

On the fourth day, the dumb money will be forced to cover on the orchestrated spike to distribute more.
