Quote from Specterx:

umm did anyone else see those quick 2000 contract orders run the price up by 3-4 ticks just now? That was really weird... Lol, one trader trying to force a breakout?

on expiration day you see some huge block trades. For example yesterday morning a huge block traded (relatively speaking). Hard to know who it is though. Big size on the spy at $134.64.

The market tends to gravitate toward the stops, and some traders like to place their stops at recent highs and lows. Other traders, me included, are happy to give them what they want.

This ain't rocket science.

Gap just about filled. Close enough.

Most moribund expiration in a while.

How you can profit on stop run if you can not accumulate on both sides like MM?
I can imagine jump countertrend in exhausting but this looks to me quite a risky stuff.

I dunno. The rules have changed somewhat over the years. Traders, particularly newbies like myself, are becoming increasingly sophisticated when placing stops knowing that the idiots' favorite pastime is to gun the stops. Eventually there will come a day when stop-running will become a thing of the past and the obvious "hot spots" will have to be redefined.

:)

There will be stop gunning as long as traders use stops, employ technical analysis, and buy/sell breakouts.

I didnt trade these past 2 days.I already made enough mon-wed.

again Im surprised we are down today.I really thought we would see green today.

anyway, I would be a buyer at the close if we remain at these levels.

You misinterpreted what the options were saying. Weds of oe week almost always ends up being the apex or trough for the week.
