It seems that every time I try to go long on a down day or short on an up day I lose out. I don't know what your system is like but perhaps not going long in the downtrend is the problem.
There's some speculation that the sell off is due to the new 2008 0% long term gains for low tax bracket investors and also the very wealthy tend to take their 07 gains in the beginning of 08 so they don't have to pay taxes on them until 09.
All of that is pure CNBC speculative malarky though so don't take too much creedence in my words. I am of the school that no one knows why the market moves in anyway and you are better off just pulling out of a hat.
In 2007 we've got only 1 limit down in NQ and none during 2004 to 2006.
Maybe we will see limit down more often this year.
