I understand your trying to help. My post was aimed at the poster and his method of communication. If your gonna help, help. If not, then don't.

I am no newb, but many are and posts like his, stink of shit.

Most are not willing to give away the keys to the door.

Education is not the purpose of these boards. They are stages for bravado, a way to say to the world, "Look at me." Trading is a lonely profession. I understand the need for attention, and I accept ET for what it is.

There is a lot that I won't give away anymore--I worked too hard to get it.

So if you understand the tactics used to move this kind of money in and out of markets without revealing intentions or sabatoging positions then you can play their game with the retail size account.

You are right smilingsynic. I've got 36,000+ hours invested in this.
4 refis, 2 kids under 5, mortgage 5k. I am just trying to help without screwing myself. WHat would happen if I revealed and then my equity curve reaches equilibrium. Can't take those chances man. Got mouths to feed. But if I can throw you a bone or two take it.

your not going to live forever, being altruistic is not a bad thing. Giving away things, most wont know how to implement it.

even if someone showed me something, I'm so hard wired, its hard for me to change. Like you said, its a lonely pursuit.

Spectre, I hold you in high regards after reading all your posts. I hold many here in high regards. I've learned few ways from many helpful along the way and I thank them for throwing me some bones. I live in a town where there is a hedge fund on everyother corner. Former LTCM down the street from me. I bump into lots of traders when I take my kids around. One day I am talking with a big shot trader from a local fund. He explained to me how big money works, didn't show me the system. Threw me some bones and 5 years later I see what he was talking about.

Agreed regarding the bravado and attention whoring.

You can give the key, door and house. That won't make them succesfull.

Once you trade long enough you know where the spots are. So I have to disagree with all the people who make it seem like trading is some mystical event and talk as such.

Its as simple as this.....

These funds have millions and billions to push thru the markets. You think they are trading retail size account methods? Breakouts?

Question is, can a retail trader use methods used by hedge funds?

You can't do what they do unless have 250-500m, but you can detect their operations and follow their lead.
