Quote from z32000:

Just out of curiousity JimmyJam, what indicators do you use for daytrading?

I like to study volume, advancers/decliners, bankers, trin, tick, vix.

I also like to trade the shorter time frames, but reference the longer ones.

It allows me to catch turn pretty well, but honestly, the price action of the ES generates a lot of false signals on the short-term time frame, I'm still trying to find a way of getting around that hump, because once you do, the scalability consderations are beyond my current level of imagingation.

Long at 1445 obviously stopped out, but the larger-frame referenced trend obviously (or not) remains up, so looking for an opportunity to re-enter Long.

Good trading,

JJ

Just as an example:

The 15 min with a 40 SMA (H/L) remains bullish, so using it as a reference for the 3 or 5 min time-frame, I would like to Buy.

And here we are back at 1445.00, so I'll try again there.

Good trading,

JJ

Took some mini shorts earlier. Looking for longs here. We will make new highs IMO. They won't let this go down just yet. Need to squeeze a few more shorts first.

Sounds good, think I'll get some coffee.

One of the most important, but least spoken about tools that a trader has is something called self-talk, where you are constantly talking to yourself, reinforcing your trading rules, reconfirming your reasons for entering (or not entering) your posisiton(s) - if your rules are kinda complicated, you might actually have to study and review them over the weekends. :)

Good trading,

JJ

No to be a drag on this board, but I'm sorta new to the whole trading thing. I'm trying to read all these posts at one time and it's really hard to figure out who really knows their stuff.
Would it be possible for members to make a CLEAR statement when they are completely commited in the market as far as believing the market for the day is either...

long, short or netrual.

I understand that things change up all the time, but it's a good way of keeping score as to those who really are just all talk.
It's one thing to know your stuff, but it's another to stand behind it knowing your reputation is on the line. It's a way to really filter out who really knows their stuff. I commend JimmyJam, reading through his discussions... he isn't afraid to put his predictions on the line.

This is Buy1Sell2's journal of ES trading. Everyone else, including myself, are just (uninvited   ) guests. Some of us daytrade, some swing. B1S2 is a position trader. Some of us trade different instruments in addition to or instead of ES. B1S2 discusses (mostly)ES for purposes of this journal.

Welcome to the wonderful world of anonymous and public message boards.

Osorico :)

LOL Osorico, you pretty much called it as it is.

Yeah Apex, that was just an example, I don't use SMA's to determine trend when trading, but if someone wants to put it on their chart (perferably for the longer time-frame), more power to them.

This is an information, conversational, coffee shop/bar/hang-out joint z32000.

Traders just come here to workout new methodologies, enhance already existing ones, or pickup a few ideas and run with'em. No one's taking loot for this, so we're all just informal here.

Welcome to the club.

Good trading,

JJ

L @ 1445 out at 1448, +1 pt on the day, plus 7 for the week. Euww-gotta play catchup (on my self-stated goals) with one day to go.

Here's an example z32000: What I am learning from this process is that I obviously have to hold onto my winners longer ...
