Ok, i sent message accidently, was not finished. here is my ideas for looking into this thread now and then during the day. My other nickname is bighog, i am a daytrader in ES only, call me a one-trick-pony, thats fine. My motto is do whatever you want but do it as best you can.
When we all came into trading for whatever reason it seemed easy and was to be easily learned..........WRONG. It was very humbling to start and gets easier yes, actually very easy, but the learning curve has never ended, thus i say it is always good to be open for new ideas of the basics. Yes, the basics, FWIW, i do KISS to the max. my main indicator and almost only indicator is price. price rules in my world. This is not a chat room where banter can be batted back and forth about this or that indicator.
This new year i decided to drop the chat room because i will be more focused in trading, chat is fun but indeed can be a distraction. I am switching charts back to tradestation and will be looking to code some ideas and work on that also.
My intention will be to also now and then not just be a lurker but also come in with some levels etc. My trading is basically based on support/resist levels (pivots).
The days objective is simple, to pull 5 handles out of the mkt on as few trades as possible. On avg that is not hard. Intraday swings thus are the goal.
A typical ES 5 minute chart has price................thats it. One other one has price and volume but that chart is a secondary look-see chart, not the one trades are extracted from. So in a nutshell you can say i am a trend follower.
My time to trade is frpm the pit opening at 0830 CST until the pit closes at 1515 CST. I do not trade globex times at night. I prefer to sleep. As a daytrader as stated i care less about opinions, i care less what stocks are doing, i do know when reports are coming out but thats about it.
One of favorite and a money maker is to trade off the opening after a few minutes have passed to clean out the overnight orders to the pit. however one looks at the opening there is a lot to it because thats when the bigs are in the game, bigs move the mkt not me or not other small time players. I have a dead zone in the morning that i do not trade in, that is my answer in how to avoid many opening whipsaws and being in the run when it happens................and most days it will.
Ok, gotta get back to football, i hope i pick up some nice ideas from you guys. I see apex drops in now and then. Ok, apex i think has some good noodles up there.
