No ES is not good for that type of trading with that size account. I recommend mini beans and corn.

Isnt mini soybeans and corn only pit traded? Is there even any pit volume for such a small contract ($1.25 tick)?

I was thinking along the lines of:

bonds, indexes (maybe not ES), or gold... Jsmooth or buy1, do you have any experience in these markets?

Try trading the 10yr note (ZN), i like that better than the YM or ES actually. Its got a $15 tick size, but its not volatile enough to lose your shirt if it trades against you - whereas ES and YM can wipe you out if you have a bad trade or dont honor a stop. I was curious about mini corn/beans because you could easily swing trade them with a smaller account, whereas you would need a nice amount of capital in order to swing trade any other futures contract.

b1s2, if you could comment.

I have noticed how for some reason all assets classes across unrelated markets seem to be moving in tandem.

During the past few weeks on several occasions prices for currencies, indices, metals, energy, grains and interest rates have moved together.

Fridays selloff in everything listed above is another clear example.

Is this something that happens from time to time....or do you think there is another reason ?

Thanks !
