Quote from m4a1:

is your profitability consistent given you trade so infrequently?

no, not in terms of making x amount every day or month. I can go quite a while without much profit and then it comes in---or doesn't.

what are your returns and drawdowns like?

My returns are generally in the 50 to 80 percent range--never less than 50 other than the first year or two. 2004 was an exceptional 145% . As far as drawdowns,
I never lose more than 2% of total liquid net worth on any one trade/idea.

so you bet big on those 3-4 trades and your returns are due to you being right on those trades instead of compounding?

what are your drawdowns in terms of equity curve?

I don't bet big at first as a rule. Drawdowns are minimal--less than 2 percent of total liquid net worth per idea/trade. I generally have 5 or 6 markets going at a time, so I suppose the answer to your question would be 10 or 12 percent, but I win on most of the positions, so the point is moot.

b1s2, what is your view on those who say that a competent trader with $100K should be able to return 100% per quarter trading the ES? total bs?

Not for the masses.

Quote from Arnie:

Long @1341.25 with a REALLY tight stop:D

I'm actually long with a rather wide stop. Right now, we are seeing a bit of a pullback. Of course, it could continue and be an all out reversal, but at this time, I feel that it is pullback only. Intraday traders of course are cleaning up on me so far today and Friday. It doesn't matter--my time frame is longer. :)
