jj.....appreciate the tutorial....but if I showed you the truth you would have my system/EDGE.....you are not close on this one...works same on es.which I traded and studied for 4 yrs...now is dead meat.....er i never traded....ym ....too volatile and erratic...teenie training stuff..............nq...was another goldmine yesterday...here is good stuff....market does 2 things only. Both are tradable....in any form.... therein lies the hard work. HAPPY TRADING
 
too me range is irrelevant....just like volume s/r oscillators, news options expiry fomc .........thinking is last thing i do...system thinks for me....

When I look at a market, based on what you said about "market does 2 things only. Both are tradable ... in any form ... therein lies the hard work."

I see two types of real tradeable price action.

The first is with the previous trend, and there is a subset of consolidation within the previous trend ... which leads to trend continuance.

The second is against the previous trend. This usually happens at the end of long trends or while prices are moving in a wide but fixed range.

I'll look into some more this weekend, write-up some rules, and then make some calls to see how it works in a pressure sitaution.
