Quote from romik:

If I was to open another restaurant I would have to invest in the region of $500,000.00. What guarantees can anybody give me that this specific venture will be a success? And what would be the worst case scenario? And what is an average ROI in such a business?

I have no idea, I'm not in the restaurant business -- I'm not trying to be someone I am not. I wouldn't even begin to know how I could tell you. See, not so hard to admit what you don't know, now is it?

Learn to know what to learn, how to learn -- that would help you immensely. I feel I've touched a nerve in trying to present an alternate viewpoint, I'll stop if you prefer.

The restaurant business has a 10% profit return, correct? (well, you are the owner, not me).

If you have 500K to invest, you only have to trade 8 contracts to have it a 1:1 no leveraged position. Then you only have to make 1 % a month and you already do better than a restaurant. Not to mention you don't have to deal with employees, competitions, deliveries, etc.etc.

1% with no leverage is 14 ES points a month, so if you make 1 ES a day, you are already doing way better than having a restaurant, and you didn't even use leverage...

It's less than 10% average profit margin IF you declare 100% earnings (99% don't).

Illiquid, this is edgeless stuff, you go ahead & trade your own way and all the best. I see your point, you fail to see mine :)

I'm no restaurant owner but I know a guy who owns an Outback and he makes about 250k a year. Not sure what he had to put up for franchise fee etc though.

Romik, if you've discovered that no edge is required to succeed in trading, you can save many people on this site a whole lot of time, money, and headache. Take care.

That's a typical 5 digit account holder's mentality - Show me the money & as quickly as possible please.
