do you see the divergence/failure swing on the daily? i guess i don't understand why you think the daily is weak but the weekly is strong. what's the difference? both have rsi at around 70, both are trading at top of their price bands, and both don't show a short grail.

I do not see a major divergence or failure swing on daily. I am just suggesting the most likely scenario would be to have a bit of a pullback at some point, but long is the current dominant trend here. I am only mentioning pullback due to experience and that dips may be able to be bought due to strength on weekly etc. If you have been long for quite a while, it 's probably best just to stay that way. 1400 test is coming in my view. It would take something Earth Shattering to change the market to out and out reversal right at this juncture. That is subject to change as usual.

I'm not sure but Barack Obama is considering running for President and that news came out around the same time. I wouldn't think that news would run the ES up 20+ points but I'm sure it also hit some stops. I'm sure it will be all over the news tomorrow.

Romik, did you add to your short position up there hopefully you were watching.

No, but I was frantically trying to decide what to do with the long trade.

during afterhours trading, why do you guys still look at ES to identify grails? during that time period the Asian and European markets lead the ES, correct? so wouldn't you look at those markets to identify grails?

maybe when you look at long term charts, this doesn't matter. but since i'm in learning mode, i want to look at short term charts so that there are more chances to practice.

ES and SP are the most traded contracts in the world, and they remain very liquid even when the US markets are 'closed'.

Agreed, you can follow Asian markets, then European ones instead of following ES outside regular US hours.

However, you can still look at ES to know if something happens anywhere in the world.

NB: The extreme price changes on ES/NQ/Russel 2000 about 13 hours ago were seen ONLY on these US futures and NOT on European/Asian futures, because neither Asian nor European markets were opened, and the futures on these markets are NOT opened as many hours as the ES...
