I'm curious, though....isn't the presence of the 50 day sma at 1513 significant? Isn't that a logical long entry?

I show the 50 SMA on a daily chart to be at 1500, not 1513.

If you want to trade in a vacum then the 50 EMA is the only moving average I would ever consider as entry on any market or any timeframe. However, it is best to use all tools to maximize your performance.

Interesting. I wonder if this has to do with vagaries of synthetic continuous contract representations? I'm using TradeStation, symbol @ES. I ahve the 50 day sma currently at....as it happens, 1514.63. So I'm not at 1513 either!

What are you using?

also, using the sept contract, esu07, i show 1514.51 as the value for the 50 day sma
