I only trade ES as it's plenty volatile enough for me as of now and it's also where I've done all my research, so I know that contract fairly well. If volatility should contract at some point I might consider migrating to NQ.

Hi LF, I remember you. You were the only positive and supportive person in my foray in that one trading thread.

That same account has slowly but steadily grown since my last post in that thread ... another 8% as of last night.

NQ is currently a long (stop 13300) and ES a short (stop 4142) currently. You know why.

If NQ trades below 13300, it is a huge short but keep 12pts as initial stop! TGT 12900

I think today is a bit of a wild card as the market's digesting today's number. Normally, a day like this on ES doesn't trade back up to the HOD, but who knows what's possible today. I'm long and praying. :)
 
Oh, want to make clear, it wasn't up 8% in one night. It's up a total of 8% since near end of Apr :).
I'm still only trading and equiv of 1.5 NQ. Commision is killing me though on the micros at TDA.

If I recall correctly, your account was > 50K, yet you're trading only a maximum of 1.5 NQ. Is this because your trading style requires that you scale into a position? Do you average down or do you only add to a trade as it goes in your favor?

Still a pretty nice result I'd say.
 
Yeah, account is > 83k currently and I do scale in and out. To manage the risk, for example, I sometimes short a few mNQ agianst a whole long NQ position if it has move >75+ points in my favor. I do average down, but thats due to the +-5points I give to build position around the 50sma. Mostof the time it's averaging up.

Sometimes, I'll sell some mNQ call against it. Goal is to take account to 100k and trade 2-3 NQ, but it's still a large move with that vs underlying value. I'm actually looking into moving account to a dedicated futures broker since commish is less than $1.00 each way (I'm paying more than 2x that currently).

I will enter the global cup trading competition so results will be trackable.
 
Wicked moves today.

Closing above the Open seems unlikely, but could be one of those days. Stalled at yesterday's high here. Could be interesting if we start moving above 4145.

I wouldn't call it 'marginally profitable', unless you were sarcastic or you've made a typo...

EDIT: Scratched it for a tick of profit. Not sure I'll re-enter from here. This might be it for today to the upside.
