Institutions are probably the leaders in algo implementation, they have the dollars to create a team of engineers.In that case, don't you think these algos will only get better over time?
Very difficult field for retail to enter because there's a huge amount of experience and technical knowledge involved. Just learning to trade is a mission, add algo experience on top of that unless retail were going to subcontract that work out which is then another obstacle.
Because trading is such a wide industry, I don't see any threat atm, there's heaps of opportunities left for retail traders without algos creating any problems.
