ES Journal - 2021/2022

You are seeing right now why it's very very hard to short a long-only market like ES.

Tell me why then it is not a long only market----

You are showing a monthly chart of a continuous contract that doesn’t trade on any market as proof of something I don’t know what.

I trade the ES current quarter contract short-term and intraday. I find that is best done with a neutral bias and most days I trade both long and short.

Maybe I misunderstood what you meant by ES being a “long only” market. It does sound stupid, however. Index futures are derivative of the stock market but unlike stocks they expire quarterly, are zero-sum, and do not have a built-in long bias.

In any case, I’m not here to set anyone straight. Usually I don’t post and I read this thread for the unintentional humor.

Carry on.

Below is a screenshot of the SP cash market. A long-only market is a market that you can trade long only and do very well. It is much more difficult to short a long-only market. It has occasional short bursts, but the vast majority of the time SP/ES is trending higher.
