CL jumped 50 cents in 5 minutes to $25.60 , then promptly retraced 50% of the move.

Watch out at 2820. If we can't find a bottom there - we'll probably trend lower today into the Close and printing 2785 or lower.

I was thinking maybe support at yesterday's RTH high which would allow for an opex SPY 280 pin.

Trading back inside those highs from earlier in the week is good reason to be hesitant.

I concur. I also think that would negate any hopes of a higher high in the offing today

Weird market - doesn't want to risk even a normal pullback it seems. I used to press my shorts like you wouldn't believe - now I trade very small when short.

You said you bought cl a few weeks ago. It went down to $17 today. You bought at $22 or so. So you took at $5 hit and rolled it to the June contract?

...he probably bot out in Oct-Dec contracts (for the long haul)...if you look at the board, spreads flatten out there..
