I was recently asked how one should get started trading the emini - should the newb start with mini or micro? I said now that now that you can trade $0 commissions with with limit orders I'd reccomend a newb taking $25K and daytrading a 10 lot of SPY or QQQ at Schwab.

I'm just getting started myself and that sounds like a good plan. I've been demo trading the ES but the broker I am demo trading has really unstable software especially the last few days.

I opened an account with Interactive Brokers but from what I have seen online I am not sure I like the charts. I've practiced using 5 minute candles like Al Brooks so I want to be able to continue using white & black on a white background. All I see online about Interactive is green and red candles on a black background. I haven't funded the account so I have no access to their charts to see if I can change the settings to my liking. Does anyone here know if I can change Interactive's charts?

I already have a Schwab account. I need to top it off at $25,000 to day trade? I can do that. Maybe that would be a better way to get started given the current volatility? 10 shares of SPY?

I pretty much considered myself done for today, but am watching that 2900 level. If we trade down there and break - I think it's worth risking a short in anticipation of a test of the lows and possibly a slide even further.

Beyond that - just watching.
