Best to have a trade plan with defined signals and rules. Other than moving slowly, your long really didn't have any technical violations that I could see. As far as you short, I am going on the premise you had a basis for the trade....again what are the rules of the trade?

looks like early entry. not sure if base was formed for upside @50. will put 2 point stop.
i am so used to scalping its hard to see reversals and my nerves get the better of me and i tend to exit early after a point or two. even though do have a target at mind, but mostly going by price action patterns for consolidations at bottom and top of short swings.
yup early entry will exit at point loss.
how would you play it if you went long at 48.50 ( my initial target was 56) but i exited when i saw price slowing down. whats your advice.
finger on trigger ready to exit if 46.50 was not a base.
