It doesn’t have be an exact touch or breakthrough. What you do want to see is large volume on the break...not there yet.

My belief is swing longs are being trapped. Just my view. I’ve been wrong multiple times before.
 
We've got about a 3 pt gap here that I would like filled as well before heading higher. ---Doesn't have to happen to move higher of course.
 
I'm noting comments and statements about 'volume' and I'm curious if they're based on actual research or if it's just repeating textbook stuff or stuff one is told from others...
 
Regarding 'gap fills', I've always considered the Close at the prior day 16:00 (equities cash close) to be the reference.

So, for today, we have a gap of + 8,0 points at the Open (2704,25 - 2696,25) which remains unfilled for now. Some people might have other definitions and might say that the difference between yesterday's High at 2700 and today's Open constitute a gap.

I do however stick to my definition and it's the one that makes most sense for me since it represents an area of 'untraded' prices between the cash close and open.

Regardless, both are by definition not filled, nor are they expected to fill today. :)

I don't really use volume myself but decreasing volume could also mean that it's returning to the slow grind up.
