I have 27k of the trading account behind each position. This would be 1/4 of the total value of the contractBuy1Sell2 said:

What does 4 times margin mean?
ES minimum requirement (for holding overnight) is $4620, and is set by the exchange. Your broker may impose higher requirements, but the exchange minimum is generally universal, and applicable to all accounts, at any brokerage. Day trading margin is a different animal and is not pertinent, and is not being discussed in this scope.
Are you saying YOUR OWN PERSONAL METRIC imposes 4620x4 or $18480 per contract you hold?

Agree, but how we define "leaving it" is key.

Risk is calculated on Total Liquid Net Worth-not on amt in trading acctThat comes up to about 4 1/2% risk on your margin capital in your last trade. Is that your usual risk per trade?
