ES Journal - 2014

Agreed. The vague, short mantras are usually a dead giveaway also.

I'm not a sophisticated trader that swings a big one. My reasons for a trade are usually very simple, and often on the sperm of the moment. I rely on intuition as well a few basics of TA. :)

Thanks, i think :D

Why do you say that?

I have 2 suggestions if you dont mind:
1) Instead of 2 point profit and 2 point loss, go for 10 point profit and 10 point loss or even better 20 point profit and 10 point loss. This will lead to a massive change in your trading style. Currently you are maybe trading 3-6 times in a day, thats like 15-30 trades in a week. If you modify your targets to 10 points, you will be trading for bigger moves maybe 3-7 trades in a week.

2) Bigger profits and stops will allow you to trade in the direction of longer term trend, which will increase your chances of winning.

Everyone learns and has to start somewhere. All the best :)

For arguments sake, I even think in this low volatility environment, u can risk 1-1.25 points to go for 2. Requires a little bit more pinpointing of supply and demand structure, but much more doable now.

Appreciate the advice.

What's wrong with going for a few points each trade? Why should I stay in a trade thats loosing 8, 9 or 10 pts? If you need an INTRADAY SL that large doesn't that suggest you're premise for the trade is wrong in first place. Shooting for a few pts is a valid style too is it not?

A bit of stats for u mean reversion traders based on 1hr Rth data ES chart:

Wednesday we were about 12 points above 20ema before a minor sell off.

Thursday we were 9 points above 20ema before sell off

Today we are about 8 points away from 20ema
