Sure they do, and this one will too, but when we examine techniques for edges it is wise to go by thousands, if possible tens of thousands of samples, not just "check the 08".

For what is worth, I did go through the trouble.

Like I said in my post it is based on the megaphone and / or broadening top pattern. If u buy into the theory behind them then the setup is there.

Here's the extreme perma-bear view:

Target would be in the 3,500 - 4,000 range, time dependent. Entry for such a ridiculous trade would be from these levels (above 16,000 Dow), holding for as long as the upper megaphone line holds (16,250 or perhaps a bit more, watch NYA double top, RUT log resis. at ~1155-1157.5 for next week), and hold your winners all the way down. See you in 10 years! (??)

edit: The upper line on the log chart puts the Dow around 16,500-16,600, with the current ATH being 16174.51. Interested to see how things play out in Dec 2013 and Jan 2014.

thanks -- notice how you can superimpose the 'sample' megaphone almost perfectly over the current Dow action.

edge or not, it will work or it won't, by chance or by algo-fulfilling prophecy, who knows. jmho.

Time for eduation....

If the broadening formation was hitting the top and you had a downtrend, you got a potential edge.

If the broadening formation was hitting the bottom and you had an uptrend, you got a potential edge.

All else, no edge.
