Maybe, but even if you're right that a news item will move the market, you still need to figure out which way?

And you know what they say about bad news in a bull market?

I'm not even sure you're right, since I've seen major news item barely impact the market.

Took off more TF around ES 84 Touched. One third remaining. I still don't like what I am seeing with Retail so I want to see how Retail finishes after Europe shuts down.

it moves it just not all news moves it, they , the biggest accts, ben in particular, have billions/trillions at risk, so they need to make sure no one sees their cards picks em off,, bluff their ass off if they want to stay in the hi stakes game, it's their job to fool everyone, our job is to not get fooled the majority of the time and pick up the crumbs

There is a difference between trying to predict the news versus simply observing when the news happens and how the market responds.

U r both right, the market is of course affected by news items, but the real question is how much by? maybe a few points, maybe a major change in direction? All depends on the news.

By Retail do u mean us small traders? If so, what difference does a few lots traded compared to thousands from funds?

11:29 News Bot: US House Speaker Boehner says Senate majority leader Reid told him no negotiations until we surrender
Says:
- Has no intention of "rolling over" on spending.
- Senate must appoint negotiators on budget.
- I don't believe we should default on our debt.
- Goal was not to shut down government.
- If debt limit is raised, spending must be cut.
- Reopening government must begin with negotiations.

No. Sorry for the confusion. This is what I said last week:

Quote from horton:

After that Walmart news I'm watching 1065 in the $RUT. Despite the weakness in $SPX the $RUT has printed new highs over the last few days. Most of the weakness in the $SPX recently has been in the financial sector, but if retail rolls over now the $RUT should follow.

So I am watching BKX and XRT closely. BKX printed a higher high already today but not XRT. I really want to see both of them printing above yesterday's high to be willing to hold some TF over the weekend.
