And it never pays to short a market which is being backstopped by the FED, CONgress, and whomever else can cause price movements has a vested interest in the "recovery".
 
i tried to short that zig zag in the last hour of trade.. it broke up.. i reversed went long.. didn't do enough to make anything on the second trade.. -58 bucks.. i might make a new rule for myself.. don't trade direction in ES when vol is low!.. its a noisey mess and i'm new so i don't have a proven method. so i should stay with whats clear..

Low vix will have that effect in market indices. The large significant moves tend to come from the overnight sessions, due to earnings, econ. releases and foreign policy.

Seems hard to game overnight jumps... its binary and probably really random.. that low vol blinking a tick up then blinking a tick down seems like torture trading... mean revert intra session highs and lows seems like a game for people of size with a small edge
