Or they could be selling the 30 puts and creating a strangle out of it. I am no expert on options but from my understanding it is the option sellers that make good coin.

I trade with a guy that worked at several big institutions over the last 20+ years. That is all he did was sell options creating big strangles and trading the delta of his position. Obviously not as easy as it sounds. Fwiw, still does it with his own coin.
