Quote from austinp:

Anyone who still makes trade decisions that start with, "I think the market will..." or "This market feels like..." or "I think the buyers(sellers) here must..." or pretty much anything that begins with "I think" are always doomed.

Anyone who makes trading decisions that begin with "price action suggests long at / shorts at" are the only ones with any chance to prevail. This is a new world order with big algos cannibalizing one another each day and that's the market.

What I hear you saying is that random discretionary trading doesn't work, and I agree. But even rules-based and backtested strategies that require manual order placement have to on some level start with the statement "I think the market will ... BASED ON my studies of 'XYZ' ... " ... do they not? :)

You're right, it's all about reading the algos and using the historical data to try and make high-probability trades, and then manage them well under pressure.

i love testing math patterns-
and believe i have cracked rangetraders code

24 was the base

we hit 1294 last evening -so we are long have 19/91

91-19=72/27

72+27=99- 16(sum of digits 1294)=83- 27 (pivot)=56

so my long call if 1300 holds is 1356 according to the code i cracked here

you can beat algos. they have weak points.

it is not the same as computer outsmarting human in chess.

computer is trying to model human thinking. moving stuff.

great opportunitites for the brightest.

still zero sum game. pension funds are losers no matter what. Nowhere else left to take money from.

premkt got the masses excited that market was going to bounce finally. they will probably wait until monday or tuesday just because they have not f'd with everyone enough already. fuk them.

Sounds like someone needs to get out and play some golf...:)

Friday of option week, probably not the best day to trade.
