Quote from dbanks:
...I have been assisting several people in the room privately (PM). It has become difficult for me to post the trades to each individual in a timely manner. I know, why not post the calls in the room. The problem is that there is a lot of noise in the room (other traders posting) that those who are trying to trade off my calls get to distracted.
So I have given a great deal of thought and consideration to opening up a restricted chat room with a limited number of members. Keep in mind, this only being considered.
The members would only be those who can trade at least 10 contracts per trade and are disciplined enough to pull the trigger on each call...
I know that I have a style that is not suitable for some, but for me what works is get profit and get out in a short period of time. I do not like pressure (makes my body warm up and I begin to sweat)...
So the bottom line question is is anyone interested in particapting in a restricted room that can trade 10 contracts or more per trade and can take every trade that is called, I would like to hear from you. I would appreciate it if you would email me at davidba@mindspring.com and make the subject "Trading the ES". I get over a 100 spams a day, so help me.
Remember I am only considering this, I have made no commitment.
Also, I do not plan to stop posting the calls in the indexfutures room or try to take anyone away from this room. I believe it is a good room for ES traders. However, I believe there are some needs that are not being met from the PM's I get during the day. And they are not negative comments.
I hope some of you will respond positively if you have an interest.
Either way, I will always be willing to help an ES trader.
Hi dbanks,
I'm a regular user of #IndexFutures and I didn't know you were the same Davidba there.
It's a good trading room and the noise level is natural via the size of the room as you have noticed.
Wow...you were actually posting your trades to each individual trader your working with via private message along with posting it in the public room...way to much work...
that in itself probably created all sorts of problems for you and I can understand why your now considering getting a private trading room.
If your going to get a private room...
you can register one for free on the Othernet server via the following link...
http://cservice.othernet.org/chanreg/
and then password protect the room.
You can also protect the room via only allowing user names on a list within a script...such I don't know how to do and you may be able to find help in the #Help room on the Othernet server (not the FinancialChat server as the #IndexFutures is on)
However, if you want to stay on the FinancialChat server...I'm sure they have a registration link somewhere also.
A few good questions:
1. Out of curiousity...why do you want only traders that can take every call?
2. Is this room your considering forming going to be free initially and become fee-based at a later date?
3. Also...how are you going to be able to verify that someone has the ability to trade 10 contracts or more?
4. Does this imply your also going to be trading 10 contracts or more?
5. Will education also be provided (charts, explanation of your method, occasionally
leading traders into a trade and explaning the trade until it completes when time permits et cetera)?
6. Another question...you've mentioned before that you don't share your method or methodology behind your trade signals...
Yet...you've said several times your
helping other traders...
how are you helping them while not sharing your method with them?
Back to the issue of only wanting traders taking your
every call...
I know some traders that may be interested in joining your room if you decide to go that route...they don't use the rooms on the FinancialChat server...instead are using the public and private rooms on the Othernet server.
(depends on some of the answers to the questions above)
These traders have their own methodology and most likely will not take every one of your calls...
they'll more likely to use your trade posts to see if they've overlooked something via their own signals...
or to get a little more confidence in their signals (reducing hesitation...looking for a reason to click the trade entry button) if they see another trader (good trader) not hesitating and posting a trade entry/exit about the same time.
The above last 3 paragraphs is the reality reason why many traders visit and continue using trade posting rooms.
I've been members of some great private free trading rooms and am still a member of a few...
for many years...
It's an extremely difficult task to get someone to take every one of your calls without you sitting side-by-side with that trader to enforce such...
especially while trading the Eminis.
Something to think about...most traders that lose money or are struggling to be consistently profitalbe are losing not because they lack a methodology...
it's because
they lack the discipline to follow a methodology or have self-sabotaging habits and anything else that's not good...
these traders more likely than not...won't be able to take your every call even if they truly wanted to or promise you they can do so...
and more likely wont have the ability to trade +10 contracts or more even if they tell you they can or will.
Another way to look at this...a trader that has the
discipline to blindly follow someone's every trade post knowing they won't get the exact same fill...
probably has the discipline to be successful without your trade posts.
Simply...your request for
discipline traders to join your room and blindly follow you is a little odd.
Further...those that are trading +10 contracts...will most likely have a methodology of some sorts and are simply looking for a little guidance or to help with their discipline problems.
Simply...in all my years in many private trading rooms and currently being a moderator in a few...
(my personal experience)
I've
never met a trader that blindly follows someones
every call via +10 contracts...
never...
However...if your requirement was 3 contracts or less...that's more towards the norm of what the average trader trades per position via stats produced by the CME (something I read at a website not associated with the CME).
Therefore...based on the 3 contract info...having traders to blindly follow you with no methodology could be done...but still difficult.
With all that's said above...I do agree you should get your own room to control things and keep everything under one roof instead of trying to manage several different private messages at the same time during realtime trading conditions...
less distractions and less affects on your own trading.
Once again...I do watch your trade posts in the #IndexFutures and want to say congrats on the consistency.
However...trying to expect only those trading some size to blindly follow you on every call is unrealistic...
Remember this...discipline traders do not blindly follow other traders.
Here's something else to think about if you decide to manage a realtime trade posting room under the theme of blindly following your trade signals...
If you want to convince yourself that everyone is following your every call...
you could have a requirement that everyone posts their entry price that they got after you post yours...
this will immediately tell you which members are paying attention or whom are following your calls...what price they got...
then you could post and end of day summary based on the average entry price and average exit price of those members and not on your own personal results.
I know one private room that does this and it seems to work very well.
P.S. Last of all...if you don't like pressure nor have a high stress threshold...do not attempt to manage a realtime trade posting room...regardless if its private or not.
Good luck and I wish you the best.
