ES "1" point System

btw. I have Trader28 to thank aka YOU to thank for part of my success. That SPM gave me some nifty clues and cut my learning process considerably. Now, every time I take $$$ from the market I feel a little bit guilty.

Here are today's trades. Took 10 trades to reach 3 ES, because I was "lucky" enough to go long at 9:59 just before the housing numbers took the market down.

So I started with a -4 points loss and worked my way back. If we take off the commission that is still 2 ES net for the day...

In my Verisimi journal I posted a 5 points trade this morning real time, but that was for longer term, although I covered it when I saw the market was going to bounce....

So I guess the weekly 5 ES gain is already done. I should take the rest of the week off... :)

It is rather irrelevant, since this is fakemoney. I always count in points when comparing systems...

What was nice coming back from the first losing trade and having 8 consecutive winners to reach 2 ES net by 2 pm...

The OP asked for a system making just 1 ES point net a day. Just wanted to show that it is possible. My average for these 2 days is 3 ES net, of course not everyday is like this, that's why one has to keep pushing when the conditions are there to make up for rainy days...
 
again, the issue is not "making a point"

the issue is making a point with HOW MUCH risk, etc.

here's a system to make a point

go long at 9:44 am

sell at +1

set a 50 pt ES stop :)

obviously, this "system" will make 1 pt on most days

but it has WAY too much risk to the downside

people who are starting trading need to understand that trading is about MANAGING risk.

game theory, expectancy, etc. are how you should be thinking

that is a professionals mindset

professionals continually monitor their risk. if you do that, and you have a decent edge, the money will take care of itself

fwiw, if you are also only targeting 1 es point, you are MUCH better off trading YM and going for 10 ym pts vs. 1 es point

the YM is more cost efficient (spread) and this matters a LOT when scalping
