Ensign Software - Gone to the DOGS

I have no idea if it's the kinda of rewrite you guys are talking about. But Howard is in the midst of making a bunch of changes/improvements.

not on the Multimonitor thing he isn't. He told me point blank that he won't change this because it would involve a total rewrite. He actually said "just deal with it".

Exactly the same thing he told me over three years ago the day before I told him to shove his program.

He can be a little weird sometimes. I've seen him accommodative to the point of "wow". On another occasion I pointed out an error in one of his DYO's. He admitted the problem, though he's lied about it in the Q&A section of the web site, but said he's not going to fix it.

I wrote my own and it works better than his.

a) Version 2/26 replaced 11/3, and it's the last version without new features. You didn't have to download the new stuff.

b) interesting noone here is jumping on your bandwagon. 15-30 seconds, minutes, whatever hang times, would cause major outcry. And fwiw, I have used ensign for 2 years and have never encountered the refresh bug. But I do not monitor 100's of symbols.

c) yes, it could be av software. Or other security software. Any program that monitors reading or writing to disk or memory.

I went back to the 2/26 version and turned off (by going into the msconfig) as much of my McAfee stuff as I could without actually deleting the whole thing.

After doing those two things, my refresh problems seem to be cured. Not sure which it was but I suspect it was the McAfee stuff.

I have the new version (March), and have no problems at all. well, no NEW problems, just the same old little annoying ones that I ignore.

Also on the March 6 version, only problem so far is ZN and ZB refreshes would get all
FU. Selecting M8 instead of continuous contract fixes the issue.

I've been using Ensign for many years now, and for the money, can't find anything else close. I've used all the major TA programs at one time or another. I stick with it mainly because I have it absolutely wired, and have few probs with it, not because of the price.

However, I do have one pet peeve that Howard refuses to address. It is not optimized to be used in a multi monitor environment, and it never will be. This means there is no way to expand a window to cover just one screen when you want to zoom in. You can get it to zoom to that size, but it may cover parts of two monitors. Involves a lot of dragging windows around.

Howard is a futures nut and ensign was designed mostly for One or Two contract traders not Stock traders (like me).

To bad Howard is so inflexible because it really is the best product on the market BUT what's the point of having the best product with no way of trusting it?

It's like having a ferrari with 12" wheels
