Ensign Software - anything like it out there?

Hi all, I like the Ensign charting platform for the main reason that it lets me adjust the width and height of my chart on the go. When I checked out Sierra Charts a while back I don't think that option was there. It's a surprising thing, even some higher end platforms like Eikon don't let you do that...

A key negative is that Ensign is only supported by a few brokers and has not been able to play well with other brokers beyond those. Has anyone switched from Ensign to another charting platform and been happy with the transition?

Used Ensign for years, started back before the internets with a BMI satellite feed. Now I just use IB charts. One thing I really like is you can expand the "hard right edge" so the last bar isn't right on the edge of the chart.

Hi Arnie, you been arounds for a while huh, my respects to you market veteran. Re IB charts, can you play around with the chart like you can using TradingView say?

see how you can scrunch up or expand the chart by left clicking and dragging on the x and y axes? Can you do that in IB charts?

It still is, I'd say the best in its price range... just a shame they couldn't expand it to work with more brokers' feeds

So you mean you can left click on the x (time) axis, and resize by dragging and same for y (price) axis?

Ummmm, yea. You can also right-click Y-axis and access Y-axis scale settings!... even prevent resizing!! X-axis stuff is mostly by default though. It's been a long long while since you looked at SC, huh? I've used SC about 8 years. Always had the scaling feature(s) you mention, and still has old-school charm.

Trade On!

If I am understanding you correctly, most charting applications including NinjaTrader allow you to adjust both X and Y individually or both at the same time.
