Canada ended QE months ago, well ahead of forecast. Economy is fine. The chances of a recession coming off a 5-6% year is practically zero.
Natural/herd immunity and keeping immune systems strong is the answer. Viruses come and go...and a few like the cold/flu stay, but are only deadly to the very at-risk. Trying to play God with rapidly-produced vaccines is asking for trouble. That's why Amish communities and some 3rd world countries with "ancient" medical practices are already over it.No more like redesigning the vaccine to target something else on the virus other than its spike protein. If all of the mutations are happening on the spike protein then if your vaccine is just targeting the spike protein then you will always be one step behind playing catch-up, never able to eradicate the little s***. Maybe it's what the virus does, its mechanism of replicating, suppressing our natural immunity and infecting the host that we need to target. So that wy, no matter how it mutates, it will always be killed... Just thinking out aloud
If the virus is here to stay, structural change of the economy is needed to accommodate it: 1. Leisure and hospitality industry should be scaled down. 2. Raise tariff on Chinese imports and move factories home. Displaced service workers can work in these factories. What the government has done so far is giving free money to the unemployed and creating asset bubble.

If moronic (anagram of "omicron") send the economy into a recession, we're even bigger snowflakes than I thought. The symptoms are quite mild. Don't be a diabetic, 350-pounder who rides scooters in Costco before you're 80 and you'll be fine. It's mostly about the co-morbidities.
Honestly I think they should give some of the covid treatment like remdesivir during early stage of the disease instead of reserving it for the late stage. I have read quite a few articles on several studies that were done on giving remdesivir to covid-19 patients during the early stages of the disease and it's been proven quite effective in stopping the virus in its track in doing further damage to the patient's body. All of the studies have observed that after giving remdesivir to patentis as soon as the symptoms are discovered, it was able to neutralize the virus rapidly before it had a chance to replicate itself and spread and that resulted in overall much lower viral load in the patients and lot less damage to the lung and other organs of the body. And the treatment is even much better tolerated because during early stage, the patient is stronger and the virus is relatively weaker. So I do not know why those studies are not being looked at further and more clinical trials are being held to study further the efficacy of this drug to promote the usage of this drug during early stage.
There is only so much that vaccines can do in fighting the virus. It's great in providing immunity to the body against the virus but eventually you will have to look at treatment options to see what can we do if we still catch it and evidence has shown we can still get infected by the virus even after fully vaccinated. Instead of having people taking malaria drugs and horse drugs, there is a medication designed for humans that are highly effective in treating this virus and yet we are not using it until the person is dying and then it's used and by that time the person is too weak to tolerate it and then they die. And in the meantime, we still rely on vaccines and vaccines and vaccines and pushing people to take more and more and more doses of vaccines more and more and more frequently and quarantining everybody when we should be concentrating more on treatment options to treat the disease so we can get on with our lives. Even flu's have medications to treat them now.

Ok we cannot all live like the Amish people. That's just not possible. If you can't even convince people to take a simple jab in the arm you are not going to be able to convince people to live like the Amish people. According to the American Heart Association, if you are a man between the age of 18 - 69, you are only supposed to take 39 grams of sugar every day, 39 grams, that's only a bit more than 9 teaspoons of sugar. How many teaspoons of sugar do you put in your coffee each time you drink it? How many cans of coke do you drink every day? The average American's daily consumption of sugar is 72 GRAMS, that's almost 2 times of the recommended consumption limit. And that is after a 20% reduction after all of the awareness campaign about the sugar in carbonated beverages. You think people can live like the Amish?? LOL
And besides immunity varies with people. You can have the healthiest lifestyle possible with no exposure to high tech. or any form of radiation and you can still get weak immunity and get infected with the virus. What then? Producing a vaccine is not playing God; it's about coming up with something that works, the same as you wearing a seatbelt when driving or putting on a lead apron when taking x-rays or even wearing sunglasses and putting on sunscreen. Are you playing God then?
And btw some 3rd world countries are not over it. All of the countries with the lowest vaccination rate have the highest infection rate.

It's worked amazingly well in some parts of the world, but there's no money in it.
