Hi From The Safe,

Yes it was a rough day with a reverse from up to down in few hours. Not good usually for my strategybut today results was not too bad !. :)

BUT, i don't have exactly the same datas as yours (specially in Target).

PS : In real trading (For the result here i keep exactly all my calculs) and for Target i keep only the first two decimals and i don't round it.

PS : I use "prorealtime" for giving you my results.

Example with JNPR : (L5 = 2,1314%)
OPEN at 12.61 (as your data).

BUY at (12.61 * ((L5 / 100) + 1)) = (12.61* ((2.1314 / 100) + 1)) = 12.61 * 1.021314 = 12.8787

STOP LOSS at (12.61 - 0.07) = 12.54

TARGET at (12.61 * (((L5 * 2)/ 100) + 1)) = (12.61* (((2.1314 * 2) / 100) + 1)) = 12.61 * 1.04 = 13.1475.
 
Hi Emintrader:

I used the formula you stated and as of result of that the targets are smaller. Consequently your results of yesterday were right.

All in all, in days like the one we are facing today: strong and straight up, all the targets will be met. Maybe not the one for MRVL but still positive

Thanks Emintrader....I see what you mean about MO...it flipped to take a potential loss only to reverse itself immediately after to a potential profit.

Will look for an alternative to MO.

Hi Emintrader and Now is Now!

Emintrader set up is commendable.

a) on solid up days delivers nice returns.
b) on difficult days (UP-DOWN-UP-DOWN) gives some headaches, mixed results and few losses.
c) on bearish days when everything tanks protects from entering at all, avoiding any risks.

However, for several days I worked with an excel set up to do the opposite using Emintrtaders formula', placing stop sell (shorts) if they are hit.

The paper trading results are remarkable also! So gives the a) b) c) results viceversa.

And what is more remarkable, even on super bullish days like the one we experienced today will deliver too!!!!!!!

Case in point, let's examine Now is NOW stock GDX.

% = 1.8413 (You gave him that number)
Open = 31.37
Stop SELL = 30.79
Stop Loss = 31.44
Target = 30.21
Range today = HIGH 31.39 - LOW 29.25
Gross paper profit = 1.92% (Excluding slippage and commissions)

An angle for thought.

I trade and win with this approach of trading because it is LOGICAL and it limit my EMOTIONS (your worst ennemy in daytrading or swingtrading).

As you said you can use "Emintrade" approach for shorting...Results are also good.

BUT don't forget you have also two disadvantages :

1. In daytrading mode, you need a very good capital to use this approach (a lot of entry signals per year, about 40% of activity) otherwise, commissions. will kill your business. The alternative is to use a broker with a structure in "commissions per share".

2. You must be DISCIPLINED. ...When temporally you lose money you must to believe in this method. In daytrading mode you must to place order each day.

PS : an alternative :
You wait for a sell order entry and after you put and order entry at opening price. You close your trade at market's close.
Example : (GDX today). ONLY When GDX reaches 30.79 (STOP SELL), you place an stop buy order at 31.37.
I called it "Emintrade_reverse". system. Very good results also ! You limit drastically you orders entry but you limit drastically your commissions too. Some few brokers permit you to auto-trade this strategy like "interactivebrokers" or "thinkorswim"..

As some stocks will yield better results than others , do you compound your exposure accordingly?....per stock.

Are there significant differences in the L5% per stock that would prevent (dissuade) me from not using the same L5 % over longer period?

Safe's comments about shorting are interesting .

Personally,Ii feel the "Emintrader reversal" sort of flies in the face of the basic logic of your system that you have introduced.

Either you are going long or you are going short is the simplest method.

YES i trade over the 5 stocks. But i have a very good capital to do that. i give you now 10 L5 (one per stock) but you can trade only one or two or...it is your choice.

I use the same capital for each stocks i trade. When i choose (each year i adjust my position) 5 stocks i try to have 5 stocks with SIMILAR L5%.

Sorry i don't understand your question. I must to be honest with you. That's why i give you each day my plan for the next day. My method is now available only for daytrading. And daytrading is very risky beacause of commissions. With my method "Emintrade" you can expect a 15-20% minimum return per year per stock (based of my own experience and research). So if your commissions plan cost you 15% per year of your capital it is dangerous to use my method. Perhaps, as said "From the safe" by using options you can limit this disadvantage.

YES but my "Emintrade_reversal" method is more powerful with better return. I give you here some ideas on how to use this method. At each to choose wich method is good for him.

I see where I confused you in point 3.....What I meant to ask is does it matter that the L5% is NOT updated each day the "value" can be used over a given period even though the price action of the stock will vary from day to day?

Now, getting back to yesterday's results...you had avery impressive resuly whereby you went from 61.99...to 71.48....

You are not suggesting that your portfolio value grew by that difference are you.....9.49%

1. I updated each day the value of my L5%. But it doesn't means that values change each day. Generally One change per week and with a little change.

2. Thank you but it is not very complicated to make such results when NASDAQ grow up of 5% !

3. No my portofolio value grew by (9.49 / 5) = 1.898%...I cumulate all my winners minus my loosers...
