Cdntrader,

Your my hero; how can you be so observant this time of the morning on a Saturday?

dude I quit drinking six years ago, just to stay sharp, so I could protect you from these evil brokers.

:)

ffastrade charges 50 cents per side plus nfa/cme fees. Total fees for cme and nfa is 1.16 per side bringing total to $3.32 RT on the $550 per mont plan

Unfortunately they are non member and as such you pay 2.28$ R/T just for Globex non member fees...

They would have been members it would have been 0.65$ R/T...

Question is : why are they not CME member ?

I was under the impression that you, as a customer, are stuck paying the $2.28 globex/exchange fees regardless of whether or not the firm is a CME member. You have to buy or lease a seat to get the .65 R/T globex fee rate +firm commission. The .65 fee is .15 clearing fee/.50 globex fee R/T. The globex fee is capped at $50 a day for members & lessees. Someone please correct me on this if I'm wrong.

No ones trying to hide anything. You want to talk about speed. What API are you currently using to connect to Globex? I would say 2.3. I know for a fact that the new 4.3 i-link API is faster. So don't resort to speed as your last stand. We are currently one of the only firms to use this.

momo,
you'd be wrong.

first, you say you're using 4.2 on one thread and 4.3 on another.
second, as far as I know, IB is on the latest software and hardware at the exchange. It also has numerous T1 lines to the exchange. I stand by my comments.

Third, it is a moot point. Exchanges won't provide faster API's to one firm over another. Perhaps during a test phase but even if both IB and your firm currently have the fastest API's, others will soon follow as they will be given the opportunity. Perhaps next time there is an upgrade, someone will get the opportunity before you.

Comments on having the latest API ahead of others is kind of like a teaser rate.

Correct.

Def: I always appreciate your input. At home I always use my cable access for trading. However trading has given me the opportunity to travel away from home. However I am hesitant to trade with only 56K access. Is system execution speed seriosly hampered by using dial up or is it negligible since I am transmitting such small amounts of data when I hit the hot keys to transmit an order??
