But let's be honest. Those who at some point in their careers were academics are well represented among those most respected in these forums by the participants on all sides. I believe there is a logical reason for that.

let me just say anyone with a doctorate who can present well can teach at a college. I know that for a fact, personally. That does not make you a scholar.

The real question is how well do you they think.
For instance do you understand what a libertarian is?
Do you understand todays "fact checkers" are very biased?
Do you realize that MSNBC and CNN are as biased as Fox and that the NYT is the leading source for leftist and democrat opinion making?

If you can't think clearly and evaluate issues in a non biased manner you are not a real academic.

Frankly, these forums are not designed to manifest academic thought and exchange.
There are far too many paid trolls and shills causing polarization.
