Elite posting rate plunges

Quote from Grandluxe:

How come this is in psychology ?

Because the same person trumpeting that he is the most adored followed poste rstarts a thread complaining that the posting rate has plunged. Does anyone see the irony in that!

It sucks, but as I see it there are 3 types of boards but none of them cater to serious traders:

1- Forex boards, filled with posts about colorful indicators and such, and populated by (mostly foreign) pikers trying to earn a living by trading a $1,000 micro account

2- Investment type sites, that are filled with mostly serious individuals and the boards are well policed. However, 95% of the content is just B&H related, or "should I hold the Vanguard S&P mutual fund or Fidelity's S&P mutual fund?"

3- ET, which I consider more or less economic related entertainment. Very little in the way of serious discussions that aren't almost immediately derailed by bomb throwers, or consumed with endless psychobabble from Jack Hershey. Once he chimes in, the thread is dead.
Great post, but I would add the following.

4- Quant forums, which are consumed with market-neutral strategies: pairs trading, stat arb, options, swaps, swaptions, all manner of weird derivatives. Elsewhere they are trying to model price behavior with the most esoteric math ever foolishly applied to real world phenomena. Watching some guy with more education than intelligence trying to strap a PDE to price can be falling-down hilarious to anybody who ever actually studied a price chart.

Your idea of "productive" is to repeat the same anti-TA campaign backed by the opinions of a few of your industry friends. No offense, but that really means little to most people and even less to those who trade for a living and KNOW what works for them.

My "why i don't believe" and other threads are the among the most visited on the site. How dare you try to turn the tables on productive and widely read members with your garbage.

I agree, that was a very insightful post.

However, good thing quants don't use "price charts" or "candle sticks" if they did, they wouldn't ( generally ) be on the top of the food chain. surf

Brother Surf, if you will just occasionally reveal a little humility/modesty, I think you'll find a difference in responses.

There will always be an undercurrent of animosity on trading boards...

trading is at its heart an adversarial business

and is a losers game for most...

most are frustrated with their lack of success and it doesn't take much to make their emotions flare up...

the markets are like an open casting call for American Idol... no barriers to entry

so you've got all types showing up for their chance at stardom

and forums are the bar and grill where they all hang out after casting call

ET was always the rough and tumble bar on the darker side of the street

some times it's under control, and the worst you have to deal with are the local crazies and homeless wandering around trying to convince everyone how talented they really are, or talking to their sock puppets for validation.

other times it's beer bottles flying, tables being flipped over, chairs being smashed, fights breaking out, and an audience who loves it like a Jerry Springer crowd...

Baron is the bar owner and as long as revenue is good he lets the patrons pretty much do as they wish. He has bouncers to protect his paying sponsors...... but everyone else enters at their own risk.

welcome to the Wild Wild West - it may not be perfect but it's the best choice out there. If you really hated it you wouldn't be here.

LOL!

You are by far one of the worst quoters I have ever seen on this forum or any other. In fact I have never seen anyone else lock up an entire page like you did for page 1 of this thread. :p

Trust me, most of your "followers" are doing so for the train wreck scenes. :D
