Let's dive into a recurring question that now and then sparks curiosity among some individual traders: Is it feasible to trade on the European electricity market as an individual?
The straightforward answer is no. Yet personally, I'd love to and feel some frustration about not being able to.
With the growing proportion of renewable energy in the energy mix, there's a corresponding uptick in price volatility and market liquidity. It's only a matter of time before this dynamic attracts the retail side of energy trading.
Are there others out there who share this sentiment and crave for access to the market as individuals? If so, what drives your motivation? What would make that appealing?

I was looking at this today actually.

I think there are futures on the CME called the PJM which is the grid from dc to like Pittsburgh or something.

I was looking at the 1y forward and it’s not traded a lot. Apparently the last two weeks were insanely volatile.

They aren't too liquid.

So, it seems few are amped up on trading electricity.
