How much do you think it costs me to have both my PC and 2 monitors on for 14 hours everyday?

I have a fairly fast PC - Sony Vaio - 2-20 inch monitors......

I live in the US

Just curious to see if anyone had a general ballpark idea

Rates vary greatly, but in sunny So Cal you pay about 15c/kwh.


20 in monitors I have seen take about 65W when not in power-save and some Vaios use about 150W. So that gives (2 X 65) + (150) = 280 watts. Then 280 X 14 /1000 = 3.92 kwh. And times 0.15 gives about 59 cents per day. Times 200 trading days a year and you have $118 a year.

Not that much overhead!

Thanks for the detailed explanation and calculation! I was worried that I was going to have to pay around $10/day! Whew! Sigh of relief *****
